A workshop with Augusto Omolú and Else Marie Laukvik
THE DRAMATURGY OF THE ORIXÁ DANCE
A workshop with Augusto Omolú and Else Marie Laukvik
9 – 23 March 2011 Odin Teatret – Holstebro, Denmark
AUGUSTO OMOLÚ, one of the masters of ISTA (International School of Theatre Anthropology) and actor with Odin Teatret since 2003, will work with the dance of the Orixá (Gods of the Afro-Brazilian Candomblé religion) and the principles of theatre anthropology in order to prepare a dance performance which will be shown publicly as a work-in-progress at the end of the workshop.
The focus of the workshop is on how to transform dance into theatre actions, differentiating between a body that moves and a body that is able to communicate a story through the qualities of energy characteristic of the different Orixá. The workshop explores energy, resistance, connection of body and mind, coordination of rhythm and tempo, intensity of imagination, movement dynamics and improvisation.
ELSE MARIE LAUKVIK, founder actress of Odin Teatret, will work one hour a day with the participants on physical and vocal composition.
Application must be received before 6th January 2011.
