Presseinformasjon fra Nordic Grand Prix 07 i Kuopio, Finland:
The winner of the Nordic Grand Prix 07 is Alan Lucien Øyen from Norway with his choreography In time and it will snow. According to the jury his work was well structured and the quality of movement excellent. All the elements were in good balance and the choreography coherent. His work was pure poetry on stage with great sensitivity, the chairman of the jury Jorma Uotinen says. The quality of the competing choreographies in general was high. The diversity of themes and expression showed that there isn’t one way of choreographing in the Nordic countries. The winner will receive financial support to produce a choreography to be premiered at the 2008 Festival.
Øyen (b. 1978) qualified as dancer in 2001 in Oslo. He has been part of the Norwegian contemporary dance company, Carte Blanche, and the German Pretty Ugly company. In 2006 Alan Lucien Øyen founded his own dance company, Winter Guest. His co-dancer in the competition was Suzie Davies.
The competition participants were Oded Graf and Yossi Berg from Denmark, Ólöf Ingólfsdóttir from Iceland, Eeva Muilu from Finland, The Live Art Collective MELO from Sweden, and Alan Lucien Øyen from Norway. Each choreographer entered a piece of approximately 10 minutes. The performance must feature from two to four dancers in set and lighting conditions that were the same for all.
The winner of the Nordic Grand Prix 07 was decided by an international jury, consisting of Jorma Uotinen, representing the hosts, Kenneth Kvarnström from Sweden (Dansens Hus), Karene Lyngholm from Norway (Dansens Hus), Katrin Hall from Iceland (Iceland Dance Company), and Louise Seibaek from Denmark (Dansescenen). Winners of previous Nordic Grand Prix include Sri Lankan / French Isira Makuloluwe (2003) and team Tilman O’ Donnell and Shintaro O-ue of Sweden (2005).
